Warning Issued Over Pills Bearing Trump’s Face

Al-Taj News – Dutch authorities, represented by the Trimbos Institute, which specializes in addiction and mental health, warned against the circulation of ecstasy pills designed in the shape of U.S. President Donald Trump’s face, after laboratory tests showed that they contained high levels of a substance that could cause death.

The institute explained that it received a number of these pills at drug-testing centers during August, where they were found to contain large quantities of PMMA. This substance is similar to the active compound in ecstasy, but it is more dangerous in some cases, warning that it can lead to a severe and fatal increase in body temperature.

The pills feature an engraving of Trump’s face on one side, while the other side bears the words “Trump” and “NL,” referring to the Netherlands.

The institute warned that the effects of this drug take longer to appear, increasing the risk of a potentially fatal overdose, as users may believe that the pill has not affected them and resort to taking additional doses. Symptoms of use include a rapid heartbeat, nausea and seizures, which may begin to appear several hours after taking the drug.

For her part, institute spokesperson Aniek Grootheuis told The Associated Press that no deaths or serious injuries linked to these pills have been recorded so far. Despite the legal ban on the production, sale and use of ecstasy in the Netherlands, the drug remains widespread among partygoers, with a 2024 government report showing that nearly 550,000 people had used the drug at least once during 2022.

This is not the first incident in which Trump’s face has been used on ecstasy pills. In 2017, German police seized around 5,000 orange pills designed in the shape of the U.S. president’s head. Police said at the time that the pills had been promoted online with a satirical slogan inspired by his election campaign: “Trump makes parties great again.”
